About
Isolated and overwhelmed by the Pandemic, while equally triggered by the fascist moves in the government, and her mother’s anxieties spilling onto her, Margarita turns to her Chilean grandmother for help. Since Abuelita survived the brutal Chilean dictatorship with her spirit intact, Margarita starts to lean on her and mine her for a roadmap as to figure out not only how to survive and thrive during 2020 but to also work through and rise above the inherited trauma and brain challenges. While also learning how to cook a chicken.

Daniela Thome | 🇺🇸 United States
Daniela is a mutt and shape shifter who creates multilingual stories as a playwright, performer or director with Chilean, Costa-Rican and gringa roots. In her plays (and in life) she uses humor to heal and lighten the journeys of Latinx women as they deal with some heavy shit. As a 2023 inaugural Candela Fellow with the Dramatists Guild, she cofounded the group DIEZ, a 2024-25 NALAC Grant recipient. She is a consistent member and contributor at The Playground Experiment, Latinx Playwrights Circle and INTAR, all places which have helped her develop new work. Based in Brooklyn they completed an MFA in dramatic writing from Goddard College
