Originally created under the name La voz de los autores, Cimientos (Spanish for "foundations") has provided essential support to hundreds of playwrights developing works in English and Spanish. Through its unique incubator model, the program offers selected writers mentorship, workshop panels, and the invaluable opportunity to see their work transition from page to stage in the annual Staged Readings Series. More than just a development platform, Cimientos has fostered an inclusive community of artists exploring what IATI calls vanguardia — innovative theatrical works that push beyond traditional playwriting conventions.
