Synopsis

Unaware that Death knocks at their door, America and her undocumented mother, Esmeralda, are not afraid for their lives – they are afraid for their home. As immigration enforcement grows tense, and rents continue to rise, opportunities to stay in the community they have always called home are narrowing. America and Esmeralda must decide if fighting Death and her imposing economic forces is worth the risk. This story is told in English and Spanish and invokes Mexican folk art and mythology.
