IATI THEATER'S CIMIENTOS
IATI Theater’s Play Development Program, Cimientos, provides playwrights the opportunity to develop new, never-before produced plays through a community of cutting-edge theater artists. Cimientos seeks to provide the foundations from which a dramatic work is conceived–the blueprint over which a production is constructed. This program amplifies, as clearly as possible, the voice of the creational author who lays that foundation: the playwright. Like IATI Theater, Cimientos, is committed to supporting works that push conventions and explore the avant-garde. We recognize, however, that what is different and innovative is not always what is unconventional and therefore, we also welcome naturalistic works. 10 playwrights from U.S, Europe and Asia have been chosen for the Series 2012-2013.

PLAY SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
Submissions lacking any of the following guidelines will not be considered.
1. Submissions must be the author's own work. The piece shall be free from copyright restrictions and the author agrees to hold IATI Theater and directors free and harmless from all copyright claims.
2. Submissions must not exceed 90 minutes in length.
3. Play should use 5 actors or less.
4. The submission must be a completed full-length play that has not previously been produced.
5. The playwright must commit to be present on the staged reading performance of his/her work.
6. Plays for children are welcome.
7. Only one play may be submitted per playwright, per season.
8. This program is open to authors from anywhere in the world with original works in English or Spanish who are interested in a New York audience feedback. However, because of the Pal Playwrights Panel, the writer must be present to take part in the monthly meetings or be willing to commit to receiving and presenting feedback electronically.
9. Scripts will be read ‘blind’. This means the author’s name(s) should be nowhere within the script, but the play’s title and page numbers should be in each page’s header.
10. Submissions for the 2013-2014 Season will only be accepted Online during the month of June 2013.
Qualifying submissions will be read by a staff committee. The committee will select the playwrights to be featured in the 2013-2014 Play Development Season. IATI Theater will provide a meeting place for the monthly Pal Playwrights Meeting and cover the costs of the Stage Reading Presentation’s venue, director and actors.
