The Rabbit and the Tiger follows Elena, a Puerto Rican woman who is visiting the island for the funeral of her grandfather.  Unable to deal with her grief and uncomfortable under the attentions of her concerned fiancée, Javier, Elena disappears into the mythical world of the jungle of her childhood, a land she played with and inhabited when her grandfather was still alive.  But the jungle is a dangerous place, and Elena finds herself caught in the struggle for power between two ancient enemies, the slick jokester, Mr. Rabbit, and the vicious and angry Mr. Tiger.

About the Playwright:

Leah Franqui was born in Philadelphia, PA.  She grew up in Northern Liberties.  She graduated from Yale. She is the recipient of the Goldberg Playwrighting Prize and the Sloan Foundation Screenwriting prize. Her work has been read at PlayPenn, Repertorio Español and Yale University.  She is currently completing a Masters at NYU-Tisch in Dramatic Writing with an anticipated graduation of May 2014.  She has traveled extensively to Madrid, Spain, Istanbul, Holland, Germany Belgium and China.
