About the Show:

Can you be found in your Facebook profile? Which words capture who you are: the ones you use with your friends or during a job interview? Or in your hometown? Or with your lover? Do you control your identities—or do they control you?

Scientist Kati Zenith and her husband, Richard Zenith, are ready to unveil an experiment investigating the meaning of identity and selfhood through the work of legendary Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa and his “heteronyms”. And who will be the test subjects?  Their audience, of course!  Join in on the fun—and terror!—as they choose the perfect matches to embody Pessoa’s most well-known “Nyms”.

An immersive theater experience that hovers between funhouse and a scientific experiment, Casa de Pessoa is a journey into the poetic and philosophic world of Fernando Pessoa and his many "selves" that enlists the entire audience in an attempt to expose what it is that makes us who we are.

About the artists:

Yinzerspielen is a three-way partnership between director Patrick Berger, actor / performance researcher Christina Kruise, and playwright / director Cory Tamler to define their collaborative work. It had its start in 2009 as an international effort between two groups of students, American and German. They continue to make performances comprising ideas and bodies that have had to cross many borders--national, physical, cultural--before connecting. They are committed to:  pushing theatre into new spaces; a more community-engaged arts model; and to furthering dynamic artist-audience relationships. They believe that theatre should be many-voiced, community-engaged, globally conscious, and ugly.
